FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE “SPECIALIZED?”

Our 3rd grade teachers will specialize in one particular subject this year, in order to become an expert at that subject and better meet the needs of each child. Therefore, your child will have the opportunity to work with several teachers this school year! Students will move to different classrooms during the school day. We hope they enjoy this experience!

WHAT DOES “HOMEROOM” MEAN?

All students will have a homeroom, which simply means it’s where they will hang their coats and backpacks in the morning, where they will eat breakfast, and where they will pick up important notes before they head home. Their homeroom is also the classroom where they will start their day, including their first block of instruction. Students will move to their various classes with their homeroom group.

HOW MANY TEACHERS WILL MY CHILD WORK WITH?

Your child will have a reading teacher, math teacher, and writing teacher. Students will also have a “FIT” session each day for individualized, small group support for remediation and/or enrichment. We will also incorporate science and social students lessons into our FIT blocks and reading blocks.

WHO DO I CONTACT IF I HAVE A QUESTION OR CONCERN?

You can contact any 3rd grade teacher by email or voicemail. You don’t have to contact only the homeroom teacher, especially if your question applies to a specific subject. Feel free to contact the teacher who is responsible for that specific block of instruction. We are a team. We’re here to help!
