THE WARRIOR WAY

  • Students can earn Warrior Way tickets for being responsible, respectful, and ready to learn.

  • This year, tickets will be kept in the pencil pouch that each child brings to school.

  • Students will be able to turn in their tickets for prizes. They can choose to trade their tickets in for a prize each week or continue saving up for a larger prize.

HOMEWORK

The 3rd Grade Team has high expectations for our students to work hard while they are at school. We understand children need a break when they get home. We value family time, the rewards of extracurricular activities, and playtime. Therefore, homework will be limited this year. We do ask that every child reads for at least 20 minutes, but that will be the only consistent expectation. If your child needs extra support at home, we will contact you and might occasionally offer some extra assignments. We might assign a family project a few times during the year, but this will also be limited. Provide 20 minutes for your child to read and ENJOY your evenings!

BIRTHDAYS

We will celebrate birthdays during homeroom at the beginning of the day. Homeroom teachers have special classroom traditions and each child will be sent to the office for a birthday surprise. Students may send in trinkets, such as pencils, erasers, stickers, etc. if they want to pass something out, but this is not necessary. We are no longer allowing birthday food for many reasons. Food allergies continue to become more common and this makes it difficult for the birthday child and the child being left out. Also, now that we are allowing students to sit with friends of their choice at lunch, it would be extremely difficult to find only homeroom students when passing out treats. Thank you for understanding!
